Benefits of Quitting Smoking

You can find a lot of people searching through internet sites to get the scoop on stop smoking benefits. That is what they type into the search engine box, but often what they are really looking for is some reassurance that their lives will be better if they quit.

With some people it is not enough that their friends or their family members are begging them to quit. It is not enough that they will finally be able to wash the stench of old smoke off their clothing for the last time. They are looking for some idea of the tangible benefits that come with quitting smoking to make sure that it will be worth the pain they know they are going to go through.

There are a couple of big benefits that they can read about. Maybe their friends have steered them to a site which puts those benefits into perspective and maybe they just found them on their own. But whichever way it is, one of the major benefits they get by quitting smoking is that they immediately get to keep more of their money in their pockets.

Cigarettes are expensive no matter where you live. If you buy them in a warehouse store you can save a few pennies off the retail price, but in fact if you are a habitual smoker, you are going to go through a large amount of cigarettes in a very short amount of time. If you live in a big city, you may have even seen people selling individual cigarettes on the corner.

People are willing to buy these, not just to hide their habit from their spouse but because even at the price the street hawker is selling them at, it is still cheaper than buying a carton. Of course, those costs add up quick, but most folks that buy cigarettes in this way are only looking at the immediate costs, not the long term.

No matter how you look at it, if you quit buying cigarettes, you are going to have money for something else you want more.

People who stop smoking also get more health. Drawing super heated air into your lungs can injure your lungs to the point where it is difficult to run or play sports or sometimes even just to walk around. If you have ever heard a smoker wheeze after climbing a flight of stairs, that is the sound of their lungs trying to bring in enough oxygen.

Stopping smoking can help your lungs heal and with a proper amount of exercise can help you build up your strength again to the point where it is actually easy to climb up the stairs or run around playing with your dog.

There are many benefits besides these two, of course. Things like not needing the heavy duty dry cleaning process to get the smell out of your clothing, not needing to hear the complaints of the passengers when they get into your car and the feeling you get after succeeding in a really difficult task like quitting smoking.

That last one might be worth more than all the others put together. Nothing feels quite as good as successfully completing that was hard.
